A POPULAR DESTINATION
France is the most popular destination for British skiers. Whether you are looking for a family holiday with young children, or a week of climbing and skiing back down the worlds toughest mountains, France can offer something for everyone.
With many of the resorts in France being developed after the second world war, convenience rules, and you will be hard pushed to find any other alpine country in the world, which offers such wealth of “ski in, ski out” properties. It could be argued that this convenience is at an aesthetic cost in some cases, however, those lacking charm or beauty, are tending to be redeveloped to fix this.
The lift systems in France are what can only be described as ‘state of the art’, with high speed four and six man chairlifts everywhere, and funicular railways cut right through the mountain in some cases.
As with other countries, France certainly lacks nothing in providing great apres ski. From early afternoon until late at night the bars are busy, and the country offers fantastic restaurants, with Courchevel boasting no less than twelve michelin stars across seven establishments.
